Coolest Hello Kitty Cake

This Hello Kitty cake was for my niece’s 2nd birthday. I made a pink and white 3-layer checkerboard cake using a checkerboard cake pan set (Pampered Chef). It was a white sour cream cake.

I made a triple batch of the Wilton Buttercream frosting. I frosted the entire cake in pink. I then traced the Hello Kitty from the birthday party invite onto wax paper. I turned the wax paper over and using a #4 tip in white and then pink drew the outline of Hello Kitty on the wax paper, which I then transferred to the top of the cake.

I filled in Hello Kitty with stars (#16 tip). I then wrote the Happy Birthday message and covered the rest of the cake (sides and top) with round cake decorating candies. Beth loved it, and it’s one of my favorites of all the cakes I’ve made for my nieces and nephews!
