Coolest Jungle Landscape Birthday Cake

I took three cakes (two chocolate, one butter) and made them into a cascading jungle landscape. I connected the top cake, a butter cake-mountain top to the middle cake, a chocolate watering hole, with a fondant waterfall. The bottom cake was a chocolate grazing land with pretzel and fondant palm trees. All the icing is buttercream.

My 4 year old loves the jungle and jungle animals, so I really wanted to give him a jungle birthday party. The only thing that wasn’t edible on the cakes was the animals, they were plastic. The waterfall/pond has Swedish fish, the waterfall itself is dyed fondant, the trees are pretzel sticks with fondant leaves affixed with royal icing. There was originally a red licorice rope bridge connecting the middle cake to the bottom cake, but it didn’t survive.

I used all Wilton tips for the decorating, and Wilton food dye for the coloring.
