Coolest Ladybug Cupcakes and Birthday Cake

For my daughter’s 1st birthday party I made Ladybug Cupcakes and Birthday Cake. I decided to go with cupcakes for the guests and a cake for her to “smash”. I made both yellow/vanilla cupcakes and chocolate cupcakes. I then used red frosting, black gel and white Mentos for the eyes. Different positions of the pupils and different smiles/”oh” faces made them a cute bunch!

I placed them on a clear tray with green curly ribbons. I initially was going to use Easter green grass but it was November, Easter stuff was nowhere to be found!. Anyhow, it was easier than I thought. Everyone loved them!

For the “smash” cake I made a round cake and frosted the top with red frosting. I used black frosting for the outline and black gel for the antennas. For the eyes I used a marshmallow cut in half with black frosting for the pupils and a crescent cut Oreo cookie (inside white filling up) for the smile. For the spots on the back, I used mini Oreo cookies pressed into the frosting. She already began getting into it in the picture and the angle doesn’t do it much justice but I can assure you it was very cute!
