This Lightning McQueen Cake was for my son’s 7th birthday party. I used a 1/2 sheet cake pan for this, then outlined the character on the top. It was filled with with tip #3 and #16 for the body. I followed the color from a picture, and the result was a huge hit!
For the icing, follow Wilton’s buttercream recipe, available in any Wilton yearbook.
The cake mix I used was just a standard box recipe, times 2.
If you have ever done a character cake pan, or shape pan, then you could outline and decorate this! The border was done with a larger star tip, and the flag were purchased at a local party supply store (cupcake toppers).
