I made this Mario birthday cake for my nephew’s 7th birthday. I used a picture of Toad road from the game Mario Party 9 to help with design.
The cake is a chocolate sponge with chocolate butter cream. I made a rectangle and a 7 inch round cake to create the shape and a 4 inch round cake to make the small island at the front of the cake. Also 2 small cakes to make the mountains for the figures to stand on which were covered in brown fondant.
Once covered in brown fondant icing I placed green fondant on top to create the grass, all decorations were made from fondant apart from the figures. I chose to buy small toys so he will always have a reminder of hes cake and seeing his happy face made it all worth while.
It did take a while to make but was pleased with the end result and most importantly it tasted as good as it looked.
