Coolest Martini Glass Birthday Cake

I made this Martini Glass Birthday Cake for my sister-in-law’s 21st birthday. She loves cosmopolitans so I figured a Martini Glass Birthday Cake would be perfect.

I used a box mix and baked it in a 13×9 pan. Once it was cooled, I cut two large chunks off the bottom corners to make the glass part. Then I used those chunks and cut a rectangle for the stem and a smaller triangle for the base. I laid them all out and used a few toothpicks inside the cake to hold the pieces together.

The icing was marshmallow fondant – very sticky to make but fairly easy to work with. I put a few drops of food coloring on it and worked it in a little bit to get the marble effect. Then I rolled it out and covered the cake. The orange peel at the top was leftover fondant rolled out and brushed with yellow food coloring. The ’21’ beside the cake is store-bought candles.
