Coolest Minnie Birthday Cake

My 1 year old was obsessed with Minnie, so I made this for her 1st birthday. I had never decorated a cake before, so it’s doable for a beginner.

I used a 10″ cake pan and two 5″ cake pans, cutting off the edges of the ears so that they sat nicely next to the head.

To do the drawing, I first drew it out on a piece of paper, then cut out the relevant features and put them on the cake. Then I traced around them with a toothpick into the base of the butter cream frosting before I piped on the color.

The ears are chocolate frosting from a tub, covered with crumbled Oreo cookies.

The face is done with a star tip and the butter cream frosting is a slightly peach color. The eyes, nose and mouth are also butter cream frosting, piped on and then smoothed with my finger.

I did the bow with a piece of polka dotted fabric and secured it with floral wire and then just sat it on the cake.

I was rewarded with an exclamation of “MINNIE!” when I brought the homemade Minnie birthday cake out to her. She just loved it!
