A co-worker asked me to make her son a monster truck cake. I told her I would and since I had never made one before I thought I should make a “sample” cake. So I started by baking 2 cakes in loaf pans and carved them for the truck. I also baked a rectangular cake and a heart shaped cake and arranged them to resemble rough terrain and mud.
I used Crueller donuts for the tires, M&M’s, marshmallows, jelly beans, Oreo cookie sticks and fondant for the decorations and trim. I frosted the cake in buttercream icing. I made a “truck stand” out of wood and dowels making the truck look lifted.
I took it to work to see if this was what my co-worker had in mind for her son’s monster truck cake and she was very pleased. When other co-workers saw the cake, I received two more requests for monster trucks and was also asked about making a princess cake.
This is the best Monster Truck cake I’ve seen.
