Coolest Monster Truck Cake

Our son’s third birthday is coming and he is dead set on having a Bounty Hunter Monster Truck cake. So we have looked every where for a cake pan of a monster truck but couldn’t find one. We did however find THIS cool site with lots of ideas, so we gave it a try.

The cake was made with 7×11 pans. We made three layers, the first two were stacked on top of each other and third was cut down for the top of the truck. We made a table (7″x11″) with four 4″ legs for support. Then came the struggle with the tires. We came up with the idea of making them out of rice crispie cakes and rolled them until we thought they looked good. The rice crispie cakes were then covered in black icing sugar and we made the treads with icing as well. We looked online and found pictures of the Bounty Hunter and used that as a template.

Then we made yet another cake and cut it in 1/2 and set the front two legs on it and crumpled the rest around the monster truck. Last but not least sprinkled brown sugar over the crumpled cake to look like dirt.
