My niece wanted me to make a special cake for my brother. We kicked around a few ideas and came up with a Moonshine Jug cake.
I used 8 inch round pans and a glass baking bowl to bake the cake layers in. I made my own fondant and my own frosting. A jug is a fairly easy shape for a cake. The hardest part was adding the fondant without tearing it. After I trimmed each cake layer to make it flat I kept the excess cake to help shape the rounded part at the top. I frosted each layer and I added the cake layer from the baking bowl upside down to make the rounded shape of the jug, filling in with the cake trimmings to build it a little higher. I kept the lower part of the jug white and on the rounded cake top I added brown food coloring by painting it on the fondant. The handle and cork are fondant.
I really enjoyed making this one. My brother loved the cake.
