Coolest Naoh’s Ark Birthday Cake

Our little boy’s FIRST birthday. I knew it had to be special!! So I started out baking this Homemade Naoh’s Ark Birthday Cake. I made a 10″, 8″ and 6″ vanilla bean cake, filled them with a pineapple filling with just a little coconut flavor added. Then I began carving.

I “stacked” the 8″ and 6″ first and then carved until I had what looked close enough to me to be the ark. I then frosted these with a coconut rum flavored fluffy buttercream frosting. The 10″ got the same frosting but it was colored blue (it was my “ocean”).

I then covered the ark in brown coconut flavored marshmallow fondant. I used a sharp little knife to “cut in” little wood planks. A toothpick made my nail holes.

Days before all this I carefully hand sculpted all the pieces from coconut flavored marshmallow fondant. Then came the fun part, assembly! I set the ark on my ocean, added the little animals as well as Noah, and voila! The “straw” on the very top of the ark was piped on in royal icing with my grass tip.

I also made a little 6″ smash cake on which I piped in a rainbow, baby Hunter loved it! I so enjoyed making this cake.
