This unicorn cake was made for a friends little girl first birthday. It was a mystery on how I was going to make it. I decided to use a Easter egg cake mold for the. Body and head. Had to made a platform with dowels to support the head. I covered it with a crumb coat if buttercream an placed it in the refrigerator for a couple hours to chill.
After I let it chill I put another thin layer of buttercream on it and smoothed it out. My friend didn’t want it covered in fondant do I had to get the buttercream as smooth as fondant this took a couple layers and chilling to achieve this. I made the horn and ears out if fondant and covers with gold luster dust mixed with a little vodka.
This unicorn cake was a big hit at the party. I also made unicorn cupcakes to with the cake.
