Coolest Optimus Prime Truck Cake

Here is the homemade Optimus Prime tuck cake I made for my son’s 5th birthday. I used store bought pound cake mix (9 boxes worth!). The bottom is a 12×18 sheet cake, then a 9×13, and on top of that, two 8×8’s. The rest was done with the spare parts I had cut off.

For icing, I used the big tub of Wilton with the Wilton dyes. The red used the whole container and some food coloring. The flames were sparkle gel icing tubes.

The smoke stacks are 2 pretzel rods wrapped in aluminum foil and the other silver pieces are Hershey’s nuggets. The wheels are donuts (small size). The grill is aluminum foil I drew lines on and added mini m&m’s across the bottom. The yellow lights above the window are also mini m&m’s and aluminum foil. For the windows, I used black icing on graham crackers. The headlights are rings I found in the party favor section at Walmart.

On the back of the cab, I wrote my son’s name and the number 5 to give it extra color and personalize it.
