Coolest Pirate Kasey’s Cake

My Aunt MJ and I created this Homemade Pirate Cake for my son’s 5th Pirate birthday party. We started with a 11 x 17, and two round cakes (confetti white). We used chocolate icing. The poles were made out of wooden scewers and the crows nest was a pirate cupcake cups. We used dyed blue coconut for the ocean with gummie sharks and fish. Crumbled graham crackers for the beach and gummie crabs.

The treasure chest was made out of a twinkie with chocolate coins. Black gum balls for cannon balls and life saver gummies for the helm (and toothpicks) and the lifesaver rings. Rolos were used for the gold and port holes. Piroet cookies were used for cannons. We bought skull and crossbone flags from the dollar store and used them as the masts. The small skull and crossbone flags came with the cupcake cups. Black ribbon was used as the line from the masts to the ship. The palm trees and pirates were plastic and we picked those up at the dollar store.

The party was a huge success!
