Coolest Pirate Ship Birthday Cake

I made this Pirate Ship Birthday Cake for my grandson’s 3rd birthday. I used the Wilton pirate cake pan. I used Wilton candy melts and spread them into the mold to pick up the design. White in the skeleton and sails, tan for the boat. I put the pan in the freezer briefly to quickly harden it.

I made Chocolate rice crispie treats and regular treats and pressed them over the candy melts and cooled it all in the refrigerator until formed.

Then held my breath as I popped it all out to be pleasantly surprised how nice it all held together.

I then used tan candy melts to form the faces of the pirates and molded and shape some of it for their noses. I used colored tootsie roll, minis, for the other colors on the cake. I had to work green color into the white ones to make my parrot but just using some imagination I was able to embellish the cake and never use any frosting or cake really.

It was a hit at the party and it is not such a messy “cake” to serve either.

  1. What an artistic job on that cake. The colors are perfect for the
theme and we rate this cake a 10 (on a 10 point scale).

  2. Some people are just born with creativity and the person that made this cake is the best. The patience it took to get it to this level was amazing and it is obvious that there is a passion in her work! Great job! One of my favorites!

  3. How cool, and how clever, to use candies and rice krispies instead of messy cake and frosting. I rate this one especially high.
