Coolest Pirate Ship Kids Birthday Cake

I made this homemade pirate ship kids birthday cake for a friend’s son’s 2nd birthday. I used a combination of ideas and techniques that I found on this site. The cake is chocolate sponge and was baked in a loaf tin then stacked up. I used 3 cakes then cut the middle section out of the top cake and shaped the front of the hull into a point.

The railings around the cake are made from “curely wurley” chocolates, the cannons are Cadbury chocolates and cannon balls are Maltesers. The masts are simply pieces of dowel that also helped to hold the cake together. Just before serving we also put blue jelly around the base of the cake for water.

This homemade pirate ship kids birthday cake was a really easy cake to make, not too fiddly and was a huge hit with the birthday boy and his guests.
