Cool Homemade 4-Tier Polka Dot Cake

For my little girl’s first birthday, I wanted a pink and brown polka dot cake. I love tiered cakes, so make a layered cake using basic square pans and stacking them.

I used sugared flowers to add some color around the edges. You have to make sure to use columns or inserts for support between the layers.

  1. What a pretty cake! I liked it so much that I copied your idea. I used round pans and green icing instead of brown (to match my party plates, napkins, etc.) to go with the pink. Thanks for the inspiration.

  2. I very rarely comment on the internet, but I just had to for this one … I love this cake and think it’s perfect for my daughters’ first birthday! and it’s simple enough instructions to just make cakes in different sized pans!

  3. My daughter has a 1st birthday coming up in 6 days. I love this cake and have decided to try to make it. This will be my first decorated cake that I’ve made. I was wondering what size pans did you use and what kind of icing for the cake?
