Coolest Purple Butterfly Cake

This Purple Butterfly Cake was made for my niece who requested a lemon cake with purple frosting and a butterfly. I used a recipe for the butter cream found off the internet. I’ve made several birthday cakes for family using only store bought frosting led to disappointment.

Having the right tools also makes all the difference: tips, bags, spatula’s, food coloring from craft store will give you better results and that’s what it is all about.

The cake was made from a box, which is another thing I need to work on :/ making the perfect cake. It was initially suppose to be heart shaped, I cooked 1-8″ square & 1-8″ round, the edges on the square did not rise right so it was cut to make another round cake.

I surfed the internet for images and ideas before and during the decorating of the cake constantly adapting to what I was working with. It was nothing like what I had originally set out to make but through constant adaptation it turned out to be one of the best I’ve done so far.
