Coolest Purse Cake

I bought a purse to match this purse cake to give to a little girl for her birthday from a known franchise store.

To start, I made 2 9″x9″ cakes and cut them in half to cool. I layered the cakes with buttercream icing and even though it was leaning by the time I was finished, once I laid the fondant on top, it kept it together. Once I laid the white fondant on top, I then cut out the zebra stripes with a pair of scissors and pasted it onto the white fondant with vanilla flavoring. I made the black fondant from scratch – box and coloring.

For the zipper, I took a real zipper and laid it on top and just made an impression of it to lay on top.

I made the silver rings out of white fondant and then just painted it on with the silver coloring. This trick took a while to get used to. I actually did these a few day before so they would harden.

After the zebra prints were on, I made the handle and looped it through the hoops, “gluing” it on with the vanilla and just draped the handle to the side.

No place for happy birthday so I just drew something up and put it on the front. For the heart on front, I just cut it out, pasted it on and then added pink sparkles. Turned out neat!
