Every year I partake in the motherly task of creating the birthday cake of choice for my boys. This year it was all Star Wars so I made this R2D2 birthday cake!
I baked four 8 inch round cakes for the body and I baked the dome using a Pyrex bowl. The legs I created using Rice Crispy treats. I did use a dowel rod to support the body along with chop sticks to keep the legs in place. I covered the cake with a homemade buttercream icing and then used some fondant that I colored for the remaining decor.
My model of choice was a 3 inch figure of R2D2 that my son had. I have to say he was so excited when he saw the final product. I do admit it was a lot of fun to make.
