Cool Homemade R2-D2 Star Wars Birthday Cake

I made this R2D2 Birthday Cake for my boyfriend’s 23th birthday. The cake is vanilla cake with caramel filling cream and caramel frosting with sugar fondant. I baked 3 cakes with a radius of 18 cm for it’s body, then I cut those in half.

It’s legs are also made of cake.

Instead of making a marshmallow fondant, I made this one, it’s a lot easier to shape. For the fondant, I used: 1 tablespoon gelatin, 6 tablespoons water, 1 tablespoon margarine, 2 tablespoons honey and powdered sugar. Mix the gelatin with water (water vapor over heat), when it is hot, add the margarine and honey, then stir until it melts completely. Pour the powdered sugar and mix with a spoon until it all mixed in then work on a worksheet sprinkled with powdered sugar and knead it much more. Wrap in foil, put into a bag and leave to rest for some hours.
