Cool Homemade R2-D2 Birthday Cake

I decided for my boy’s 5th birthday party to attempt a homemade cake of his choice, why was I surprised then when he said R2-D2. As I used this site for inspiration I thought it was only fair to share my attempt of my Homemade R2-D2 Birthday Cake. I used four 6 inch cakes tins to make the body and iced them

together placing four kebab skewers into them when complete to help keep the body together. I used a pudding bowl to make the head and cut up a square cake to make the legs (these were the trickiest and I’m not sure I would do it with cake next time, next time?).

I then covered it with white icing (at this point friends were pointing and laughing at my cake, I’m not explaining why!). I used icing to decorate the cake sticking it on with hot jam and silver food paint to colour him in. I used pre-made icing which saved a lot of time. Kids loved it!
