Coolest Race Track Cake

I made this race track cake for my sons 6th Birthday (obviously) as he is really into Formula 1 and Lewis Hamilton. A race track seemed really appropriate. It really was very easy to make.

I hired the number 6 cake tin from a cake decorating shop and made up the usual 8-8-8-4 cake batter (that’s 8oz of butter, sugar, flour & 4 eggs). I think you all know how to make a cake ! Anyway once the cake was cool I made up the green butter icing to use as grass. I then rolled out the block of black REGAL ice which I also bought from the cake decorating shop. It was a bit sticky to use but once I had rolled it out flat I used the number 6 cake tin as my template and cut out exactly the shape I needed.

Once I had stuck this on I then piped the white butter icing round the edge to give it a nice clean finish. I used white glace icing for the road markings. I then used the black & white check ribbon as my finish line. I used two ornamental racing cars but any out the play box would do.

JOB DONE! Took me about an hour to ice but it was a really big hit at the party and it was really easy.
