Coolest Rapunzel Birthday Cake

This Homemade Rapunzel Birthday Cake was a cake that I made for my 5 year old. She wanted to have a “Tangled” birthday party and I don’t really care for themed birthday parties, so I decided to make my own cake for her. I started with a sheet cake that I cut in the shape of a book. I covered the cake with buttercream icing and fondant. I painted the word Rapunzel on the binding so that it would look like a really old book.

I embellished the corners of the cover on the book with fondant and painted it with gold luster dust. I also made a 5″ round two layer white cake that I iced with buttercream. I added a fondant bow (made ahead of time and air dried) to the top and cascaded fondant flowers down over the edge. To really tie in with the “Tangled” theme, I made fondant paint brushes, a paint pallette and Flynn Rider’s satchel with Rapunzel’s crown peaking out from under the flap. I also made a basket out of fondant and filled it with foods that went along with the movie.

This was a really fun cake to do and it wasn’t covered with plastic toys, just edible items that went along with the movie. Such a fun cake to do and my daughter loved it!
