This Red and White Pregnant Belly Cake was my first attempt at using fondant on an entire cake and I was pleased with the results. I used the Wilton soccer ball cake pan for the belly and a large muffin pan for the bosoms.
I then made butter cream to ice the cake and made a belly button and foot out of gum paste (fondant can also be used). The night before I also made a gum paste bow with a tutorial I found on You Tube so it could harden.
For the fondant I used Duff’s premade red fondant (with Michael’s 40% off coupon). I also found a tutorial on You Tube on how to properly fondant the cake. The dots and the belt are also made from gum paste. I chose these colors because my friend was having a girl but did not like pink or purple.
