Cool Homemade Red Dragon Cake

I started out with an eight egg sponge mix for this red dragon cake cooked in a rectangle pan and cut out the shapes. There is jam and buttercream between the layers which I find keeps things together well.

I first covered it in vanilla buttercream and then covered it with a good half centimeter of red fondant. I then made up the features, ears, eyes etc from fondant. I made the wings with rice paper painted red with food colour then attached them with red royal icing.

Finished the cake by painting the details on in a darker red dye and a black for pupils etc then went to town with bronze dusting powder! This cake is big enough to feed maybe 10 -20 people.
