Cool Homemade Hand-Drawn Rubber Ducky Birthday Cake

My daughter loves rubber ducks! I needed a 1st birthday cake but couldn’t find anything that wasn’t boyish. So I drew a rubber duck on paint shop, enlarged it, then cut it out. I used it as a template to cut out the shape from a ex-large Wilton oval pan for this Rubber Ducky Birthday Cake.

I used butter cream icing and gave the cake a once over to hold all the crumbs. I outlined the duck in black, then using a Wilton decorating tip I piped stars all over the body in yellow. I added editable yellow glitter flakes over the finished product. My mother wouldn’t let me right on it, so we used “Happy Birthday” candles.

Tip: my mother thought the cake would be great if added red berry filling between the two layers of cake. I did and it tasted great, however it looked like the duck was bleeding once we started serving the pieces.
