Coolest Sesame Street Birthday Cake Design

This Sesame Street Birthday Cake Design was inspired by my son’s love of Sesame Street. It is a basic stacked cake, with buttercream frosting and fondant accents. The fondant is made from marshmallows and powdered sugar, so it tastes way better than the store bought brands. All the characters and the sign were made from different colors of chocolate. I found images that I wanted to use, (reverse them if it’s words or something that needs a specific orientation), and placed them under clear plastic sheets. I melted chocolate and outlined (traced over) the characters.

When the outlines were set, I filled in the rest of the colors making sure to the parts in the front first. It looks way harder than it actually is. Yes, it’s time consuming, but it’s not “hard”.

  1. I’m not a big fan of fondent, it seems like a waste of food to me. BUT, you used it in a way that it’s not too much and adds fun accents! Very creative.
