Coolest Spiderman Birthday Cake Idea

I made this cool Spiderman Birthday Cake Idea for my little boy’s third birthday. I got the idea from another web sight and just had to try it. I was surprised how easy this really was. It was a huge hit at the party.

Spiderman’s body is made from two cake mixes of your choice. Bake cakes in 3 round cake pans. To make the shoulders, cut one of the cakes in four equal pieces. “Glue” two pieces together with icing then attach these “shoulders” to the two layer cake. I used toothpicks and icing to make sure the cake stayed together.

Spiderman’s head is made from a Styrofoam wig stand. I took three wooden dials (or wooden skewers, work well) to attach the head to the cake. I really didn’t want to waste a lot of the yummy buttercream icing on the head since we couldn’t eat it so I painted it with red acrylic paint I had on hand.

I finished off with black piping for the web design. It was so much fun and I was really amazed at how well it turned out. My little boy was so excited he said, “Mom, you really CAN do everything”.
