Coolest Spiderman Cake

This was a trial run for my son’s birthday cake in a few months. I took a Wilton cake decorating class and learning this technique of transferring a pattern to a cake w/piping gel. So cool! I see obvious mistakes, but had fun making it (the eyes are different if you look at them).

I took a picture of the Spiderman face and printed it out (in black and white). I took a piece of parchment paper and put it over the printout. Then with the piping gel, I traced the face. I put the parchment paper, gel side down, onto the cake making sure that it adhered in all places, then lift and viola!

After that, I took icing and traced the piping gel making an outline of the face on the homemade Spiderman cake. I used the flooding method to fill in the colors. Then I piped the spiders and webs on free-handed to fill in the blank areas!
