Coolest Spiderman Cake

I know that there are a lot of similar cakes on here, but I was proud of how this Spiderman cake turned out so I’m submitting it anyway.

I used the Wilton Spiderman cake pan and followed their decorating tips. I loved the tip to pat down the icing with your finger dipped in cornstarch (that’s what I did for the white and black of the eyes).

The most difficult part was tracing all the black lines. They do not show up well on the cake, so I went off of the picture as best as I could. Then I used the small star tip to color in the read and blue parts of Spiderman.

Since there wasn’t anywhere to write on the cake I decided to make cupcakes to surround the cake. Most of the cupcakes just have Spiderman cupcake topper decorations on them. I made the spiderwebs by simply drawing lines down the middle of the cupcakes to cut it in half vertically, horizontally, and diagonally. Then I connected all of the lines with little “swoops” to make them look like spiderwebs.

The cake was a big hit! And the kids enjoyed eating the cupcakes the most!

  1. Your frosting colors are so vibrant and it looks like they have a shimmer to them. How did you get such great color & how did you add the shimmery effect? I love this cake & cupcakes!

  2. I’m not sure if my comment posted but I am wondering how you got such vibrant colors and how did you get the shimmery effect in your frosting?

  3. I used the royal blue and red-red Wilton icing colors to tint the frosting…and lots of it! As for the shimmer, I think it must have been the light reflecting or something. I simply used canned frosting. This was the first cake I did. Now I do everything from scratch. Thank you for the compliment. :)
