This Spiderman cake was made for my friend’s son for his 6th birthday. I made the cake from the Betty Crocker cook book. It is a devil’s food cake with a Hershey syrup filling. I made the fondant from scratch, it is a marshmallow recipe that I found on the internet. I was surprised even the adults ate it.
The spiders and Spiderman were the only store bought fondant. It is too hard to try to dye fondant black or red, so it was just easier that way. I then painted Spiderman with black food dye. The buildings on the side are made from gum paste.
My two kids helped put the spiders together. My son made the head and bodies and my daughter made the legs. It was fun to be able to make a cake together. This is the first we have made together.
