Coolest SpongeBob SquarePants Cake

I made this SpongeBob SquarePants Cake as a surprise for my Brother-in-Law’s 38th birthday, he is a big SpongeBob SquarePants fan. I used a Victoria sponge and sandwiched it together with whipped cream. I used golden marzipan for his yellow “sponge” body (and because my brother-in law loves marzipan), green icing to give the sponge holes effect, chocolate fudge icing for his pants, vanilla fudge icing for his eyes and white shirt, and Liquorice Allsorts for his blue eyes and brown belt. I used tubes of black writing icing to outline his eyes, nose, mouth, and tie, and filled in the tie using a tube of red writing icing.

I find it so much easier to bake the sponge cake the night before and then when cool, wrap it in cling-film, and refrigerate it before decorating it the next morning. The cake is easier to handle when its chilled but still tastes fresh, and I don’t feel like I’m spending hours working on the cake either.
