Coolest Star Trek Voyager Cake

We made two cakes (lemon and poppy seed) to create this Star Trek Voyager Cake. We baked one in a casserole dish to make the oval shape of the body, and another in a loaf tin, which we sliced into pieces for the wings. We assembled the whole thing on the tray before we decorated it; it isn’t joined together.

The grey icing is white chocolate melted down with some black food colouring added until you get the shade of grey you want. Then we just decorated it with writing icing pens and some silver balls, using a picture of the real thing to go by.

The galaxy is made of a few Dr Oetker chocolate stars randomly sprinkled, and some flying saucers with coloured sugar added either side to look like space.

It was a lot of fun to make! And it tasted great because we didn’t rely on lots of roll-out icing/fondant.
