My daughter’s birthday is in May and she was getting a bit bored with the usual cakes & parties. She was 11 and decided on a strawberry themed party – her favorite fruit.
The strawberry cake is really simple, a sponge cake in a heart shaped tin. I then covered it in red fondant icing. The green stem was made by cutting an oblong in green then slicing triangles at the bottom, attaching the top to the top of the cake and fanning out the triangles at the bottom.
I then mixed a little fondant yellow for seeds and stuck them on. An impressive yet simple cake!
