Coolest Strawberry Shortcake Cake

My daughter wanted a Barbie dress cake. But I already made one for her when she was 2. So I was browsing, and found a Strawberry Shortcake in a dress. I asked her what she thought of it and loved it. So I made a smaller dress just baked in a Pyrex bowl.

I used one box of strawberry cake. It took about an hour to get baked all the way through. I thought the outsides were going to be burnt so I kept sticking a knife in the center every 10 minutes after the 35 minute timer and I eventually made the darn thing fall and cave in in the middle. But it turned out fine because you have to cut a hole anyway in the middle for the doll. So my suggestion is not to poke it until at least the 50 minute timer.

I wrapped the cake in foil and put in the freezer.(It frosts better when frozen). I made 2 different shades of pink and some white and green. To make your frosting look like fondant, spread on your frosting, then dip your metal spatula or knife in hot water and go over your frosting, it will smooth it out well. I used a petal tip for the ruffles at the bottom and around her waist. I used a regular circle tip for the strawberry (make like a heart shape), the swirly pattern, her top, and the dots. I used a leaf tip for the strawberry leaves. (I wish I knew how to make leaves better.)

This Strawberry Shortcake cake was pretty simple. You can do it!
