I was asked by my nephew to make his son’s birthday cupcakes. His son is my God son. I asked what theme he wanted. My God son was just learning to surf, so why not a “surfs up” theme! Lol.
I had never done anything like that. I tried my hand at making fondant surfboards and skim boards. I put the surfboards on waves and the skim boards on the sand. The skim board cupcakes are banana nut with banana mousse filling and a light butter cream on top with graham cracker crumbs for the sand. The surfboard cupcakes are chocolate with butter cream waves painted blue.
People that were at the party place for other parties came over and wanted to know where we got the cupcakes! Complete strangers!! Lol The hardest part was the painting of the fondant boards.
It was so worth doing this! My God son was so surprised and happy!!! So, “Surfs Up Dude”!
