Coolest Sweet 16 Birthday Cake

I made this Sweet 16 birthday cake for a girl turning 16. The zebra print cake was made using two ten inch pans and two eight inch pans. They were chocolate cakes with chocolate butter cream frosting. I used baking strips on my cake pans, and that makes it easier because you don’t have to level your cakes (most of the time anyway).

I use homemade marshmallow fondant, which is a lot less money and tastes better! I colored the fondant and cut out the sixteen number and bow a couple of days before I made the cake so it would be dry in time. I cut out strips for the zebra strips and pieces for the cheetah print. After I applied the cheetah prints I used edible gold dust and clear vodka for the spots. I cut out a circle with my pink fondant using the six inch cake pan and then draped it over the pan (upside down) to dry.

But remember when doing that you have to rotate it because underneath will not dry fast enough. I piped pink buttercream on the top of the cake to help secure the sixteen number and then used some black circle sprinkles on top to break up the pink color.

When I was finished with the cake I hot glued the black fuzzy strip on the cake base. The girl loved her cake so much she did not want to cut it!
