Coolest Tea Party Cake

I made this Tea Party Cake after seeing several examples on this site. This cake was made for my niece’s 9th birthday. I used a glass tea set so that she would be able to keep it. I used one that you can paint and bake to make it unique.

For the cake I used two 8 inch round cake pans 2 inches deep and stacked them on top of each other with a thin layer of buttercream in between. I placed the entire cake onto a cake doily to give it a little added touch. I then colored fondant pink and saved a little white. I rolled it out larger than the cake was in order to have it drape like a tablecloth. I then laid it over and pulled the edges out to form light folds in the “fabric”.

I used the large end of a piping tip to cut out the circles and used a little water to attach them to the pink fondant. I then placed the tea set on top to finish the table setting. My niece loved this cake and the fact that she could keep the tea set made it that much better.
