Coolest Teddy Bear Birthday Cake

I was asked to make a “me to you” Teddy Bear Birthday Cake for two girls, that love me to you. I thought it was going to be a massive task, but I loved doing it. After much debating trying to work out how to construct it, I came up with a plan.

I baked two Madeira sponge 4″ cakes for the feet. I sliced them and butter creamed them. I baked two 9″chocolate cakes and butter creamed them with chocolate fudge into four layers. I carved the top of the cakes for the shoulders shape, then cut another 9″ cake in half to make the arm shapes cutting them into the shape of the body then stuck them to the sides with chocolate buttercream (bc) then covered all the body in bc. The head I used was an 8″ cake on it’s side slicing the side you attach to the body then cover all the cakes in grey fondant. Secure the head using a dowel to the body, stick the feet to the body.

After a drying time, I now filled an icing bag with buttercream coloured grey. I used a disc (from my fondant gun set) that has 8 holes in and proceeded to spiky ice from the bottom up the top to give the tatty effect of fur. I did the mouth/nose using fondant, the eyes were small balls of black fondant. It was 12″ high.

I didn’t want to give it away.
