Coolest Tinkerbell Birthday Cake Idea

This Tinkerbell Birthday Cake Idea was for my daughter’s 3rd birthday. Two tier covered in fondant and hand painted. Fondant covered Styrofoam ball for teapot with hand sculpted handle and spout.

Rabbit, mouse, frog, and ladybugs were hand sculpted from fondant. Used grass tip for piping in between each layer. Fairies are toys.

  1. of the cakes I’ve seen so far in the new cakes area, by far you have done the nicest job.
Did you just paint the fondant with gel food coloring? (like the jars from Wilton?)
Your fondant critters are really cute. I’m sure this cake was a huge hit. Great Job!

  2. Thank you! I wish that coolest-birthday-cakes.com would have posted the close up pics as well so you could really see the detail. I dyed the fondant brown – but it was only tan. I just wanted a base color cause I had never painted a cake before. Turns out I really didn’t need the base color at all. I just mixed the brown Wilton dye with vodka and painted away. It was SO easy!!! With it being a wood grain mistakes were not seen at all. VERY EASY!! I did take the fondant tool and make straight up and down indents to make it look a little more like wood grain. Thank you so much for the compliments. I REALLY loved making this cake!!!
