Coolest Train Car Mini Cakes

I made these cute little Train Car Mini Cakes for my son’s 6th birthday. He picked out the toppings for each train car.

These are all french vanilla iced with homemade buttercream. The cakes were made in separate tin foil loaf pans. I let them cool on the counter for about two hour. They were very easy to get out of the loaf pans. I iced each one individually on a cake turn table and transferred them to the board.

We used red licorice to connect the train cars. The wheels were mini Oreos. The contents of the cars were: crushed Oreos, red sugar sprinkles, confetti sugar sprinkles, marshmallows and M&M’s. We forgot to use our chocolate chips for one car and ended up with 2 Oreo cars (good thing, that was the most demanded).

We had a good time putting this cake together and it was a huge hit with all the kids.
