Cool Homemade Winnie the Pooh and Friends Birthday Cake

I made this Winnie the Pooh and Friends Birthday Cake for my step-daughter who is in her 30’s but has always liked Winnie the Pooh. The cake was a round chocolate Madeira cake filled with chocolate butter cream. Sugarpaste was used throughout but was mixed with tylos for the figures, food and crockery to give stability.

The tablecloth was rolled out white sugarpaste with very thin strips of red sugarpaste layed over the top vertically and horizontally just before the final roll with a textured rolling pin. The crockery was decorated using a cocktail stick and some black food colouring. The biscuits and doughnuts were made using teddy bear brown sugarpaaste and tiny balls and strips of red and white for the jam and cream. The shortbread biscuits were marked with a cocktail stick. The sandwiches were two thin layers of white sugarpaste with another thin layer of red in between, rolled together and then cut into triangles.

I modelled each figure with pictures of each of the characters in front of me to try and get them to look like who they are supposed to be. She was very happy with this cake and said it tasted good too.

  1. Hi sorry when I use the word sugarpaste I just mean fondant. I either buy the ready made fondant or sometimes I make marshmallow fondant which has a lovely taste.
