My daughter wanted a Wizard of Oz party for her 8th birthday party. I found a few ideas for rainbow cakes and Wizard of Oz cakes from this and other cake sites and decided to combine a few ideas together.
The base of the Wizard Of Oz Cake is a simple 9×11 cake pan with dyed premade icing in green and yellow. The rainbow was made from a small circle cake cut in half and placed together. I decided to do the rainbow colors in M&M’s as it was easier to get all different colors and not have to tint small quantities of icing different colors.
I had to use plastic knives stuck into the cake behind the rainbow to hold it upright. I used my daughters Wizard of Oz dolls for decorations. My daughter and all her guests loved the cake! All the girls fought over who was going to get a piece of the rainbow!
