My 1 and 2 year old LOVE the Yo Gabba Gabba show. So, for my 1 year old’s birthday party, I wanted to make her a Foofa cake. I got the courage to make my own when I came across this site, and it was a hit!

The cake itself was a box strawberry cake, and the frosting was “special buttercream frosting”, a recipe from I read so many reviews from others on this site before coming to a final decision, and boy was I glad!

The cake was baked in a small round 8″ pan. I then sculpted the shape, frosted it with the frosting and rolled out the “marshmallow” fondant in white, red, and yellow. This fondant recipe also came from I cut most of it freehand but also used lids from water bottles or from whatever I could find. Tip: if you moisten your finger with water before applying the fondant, it gives the fondant that glossy look.

I piped the black on her eyes and lashes and Foofa was finished.

I would like to add that I am by no means a baker and usually buy the cake mix, add store-bought frosting and that’s the end of it. However, when I saw that so many people were making their cakes from scratch, I thought I would give it a try. My husband and I now agree we will never again spend $50-$70 dollars on a bakery cake. My cake looked exactly as I had wanted it to and tasted far better!
