Coral Snake Cake

My son is crazy about reptiles, especially snakes. We decided to have a reptile themed party for his 4th birthday and I made this Homemade Coral Snake Cake to go along with the theme.

I baked three bundt cakes and after cooling them I cut them in half and arranged them in the shape of a slithering snake. One half of one of the cakes was used to shape the head and tail. I colored the frosting with gel food color, black, red and yellow. Using piping bags and #32 tips I decorated the cake. The eyes were candy “eyes” I found at a party store.

My son loved it and so did the guests, some people thought it was a party decoration and not edible! It fed 45 people.

This was my first attempt at making a cake like this…you can do it too.
