Dinosaur Bowling Party Cake

I made this cake for my son’s fifth birthday. He had a dinosaur-themed birthday party at the bowling alley, so we decided to combine the two themes into one. I started with a 9 x 13 chocolate cake, frosted with brown decorator frosting. I cut a tootsie roll stick into small pieces to make the “stones” that serve to define the bowling lane. The grass was made using Wilton tip #233 with green decorator frosting (it was my first experience with this particular tip – I’m sure a pro could have made it look better). The dinosaurs, bowling pins, trees, and ferns were all purchased from a local cake decorating supply store. The bowling pins had come with a bowler – it was a Wilton set. The bowling ball was a black jawbreaker candy that I superglued to the dinosaur’s front limbs using Gorilla Glue. My son and I had a lot of fun dreaming up and decorating this cake!
