Go Kart Cake

I made this cake for my son’s 6th Birthday . We were going Go-Karting for his party so he decided that he wanted a Go Kart Cake.

I bought a little Go-Kart toy for inspiration and example to go by. I used 2 9″x13″ pans for the cakes. I started by carving out the Cake until I reached the shape I was looking for, without cutting all the cake to pieces… LOL

It’s a white Funfetti cake with orange custard filling and chocolate cake with chocolate mint custard filling. I covered in orange flavour colored yellow (Wilton’s Paste) buttercream.

The wheels, bumper, steering console and little seat are all made of Rice Crispy Treats covered in chocolate modeling clay. The fire strips are made out of royal icing. The number 6 on the top of the Cake is also chocolate modeling clay.

He Just loved his Go Kart cake… and it was a great hit at the party.
