Homemade Princess polka dot birthday cake

This cake was for my nieces first birthday, which was a brown and pink polka dot theme. I baked an 8″ layer and two 6″ top layers using Duncan Hines dark chocolate fudge cake, iced and filled with homemade chocolate buttercream. I covered the layers in Satin Ice fondant dyed a light pink, and dyed additional fondant darker pink and brown, and cut polka dots from it using fondant circle cutters and a #10 writing tip to punch out smaller dots The toy tiara cake topper was found at a Party City store in the birthday section, and it has a #1 on the tiara that lights up…such fun! The smash cake was a 4″ cake, (Duncan Hines banana flavor) iced in chocolate cream cheese icing. The left over batter was used for extra cupcakes and I found pink and brown polka dot liners online. Dark brown is hard to achieve on your own, so I dyed my own polka dots as best I could, but ended up buying a Wilton dark brown fondant color for the ribbon around the cake. I prefer the Satin Ice for the rest of the cake since its flavor is much better.
