Cool Homemade Lion Cake

This is the lion cake I made for my daughters 3rd birthday party (I also made a giraffe cake for the same party). The theme was safari. We made a lion and a giraffe. This lion cake was a store bought “orange” cake, which I added chocolate pudding and dark chocolate chips to. The frosting is store bought as well.

A very thin layer of chocolate frosting was put on before the toasted coconut for the “mane.” The cake was a “daisy” cake pan, looks like a flower. The extra for the lions face was a 10 oz ramiken, that I shaped and used the extra for the ears and nose.

Again, best to decorate when the cake is frozen. Frosting doesn’t pull up, and easier to manipulate.
